The central lesson: citations are an invitation to check, not proof
A citation tells us that a source has been associated with a sentence.

It is to document the point where the general advice fails, changes or requires qualification.
That means preserving:
- the original question;
- the AI answer;
- screenshots of the evidence;
- the cited sources;
- the relevant rules or primary documents;
- the exact point of disagreement;
- what further checking revealed.
This is evidence-led content.
The final conclusion
The most important failure in this experiment was not that AI Mode initially made a mistake.
Any information system can make a mistake.
The more significant failure was what happened next.
It rejected observable contradictory evidence, became more certain, invented explanations to defend its position and presented citations that gave an impression of verification without establishing its claims.
The lesson is therefore not:
Never trust AI Mode.
Nor is it:
More citations always produce a better answer.
The more defensible conclusion is:
When an AI answer matters, check whether its sources genuinely support its claims—especially when the system becomes more confident after being challenged. Citations should begin the verification process, not end it.
In this case, one glance at the shirt raised the question.
One genuine match photograph disproved the absolute claim.
And reading the citations revealed that the apparent evidence was much weaker than the confident answer suggested.
