Who is behind Action With AI?

My name is John, and I have been learning about WordPress, websites and affiliate marketing since 2015.

I originally became interested in websites while searching for work I could do from home. I found a website that reviewed different home-working opportunities and recommended some while warning readers about questionable ones.

The owner explained that he had learned how to build websites and attract visitors through a platform called Wealthy Affiliate. It was possible to start for free, but I was sceptical. I assumed it might be another scheme that promised useful information before placing the important details behind an expensive payment.

After thinking about it for several weeks, I eventually decided there was little harm in trying it.

That decision introduced me to WordPress, website hosting, domain names, content creation and the different ways a website might attract visitors.

I am still a Wealthy Affiliate member today.

My experience of building websites

Websites have never been a dramatic overnight success story for me.

I have built several of them over the years. Some were poor and went nowhere. Others were more useful and helped with whatever project or idea I was pursuing at the time. I also spent several years setting up and running websites for local businesses using the skills I had learned.

My interests changed, websites were sometimes neglected and not every idea worked. However, each attempt taught me something about WordPress, content, search, website structure and the practical problems beginners encounter.

One website I created was called WhatIsSprayPaintArt.com. The name had been chosen mainly to match a search phrase rather than communicate a strong identity. Another, TheGameOfChess.net, changed direction several times because I had chosen the broad subject of chess without deciding exactly which part of it I wanted to cover.

Those experiences taught me the importance of planning a website before producing large amounts of content.

They also taught me that early work will not always be very good. That is part of learning. Pages can be improved, ideas can be refined and a website can become more useful as its owner gains experience.

Why I prefer to keep website building simple

I am not highly technical, and that has influenced how I approach websites.

In the past, I found it confusing when domains, hosting, email, file access, backups and WordPress support were handled by different companies. If something went wrong, I was not always sure whether I needed to contact the hosting provider, email provider, domain registrar or someone else.

My personal preference is to spend less time managing technical systems and more time creating useful content. However, convenience should not become complete dependence. Even when a platform handles much of the technical work, a website owner should know how to log in directly, obtain a complete backup and give useful information to technical support.

The most significant change I have seen since I started building websites is the development of generative AI.

That exercise showed me that I had been writing mainly about the parts I found most interesting—particularly experiments involving Google AI Mode—without yet covering the reader’s complete journey.

I am now working through that journey systematically, building the individual posts first and then connecting them through topic hub pages.

Even a few years ago, analysing and organising a website in this way would have required much more manual work.

AI should assist the person, not replace them

AI makes website building more accessible, but it does not remove the need for human judgement or experience.

It can produce convincing information that is incomplete, overstated or simply wrong. It cannot automatically provide the personal experiments, photographs, mistakes, observations and practical knowledge that make an article worth reading.

The approach used on this site is human-led and AI-assisted.

That means using AI to help with research, planning, analysis, editing and technical work while retaining responsibility for:

  • Choosing what is worth creating
  • Checking factual claims
  • Conducting real experiments
  • Recording genuine experience
  • Deciding what conclusions the evidence supports
  • Making the final content useful to another person

Good presentation cannot compensate for having nothing valuable to say. The underlying research, work and evidence must come first.

If you are looking for a quick way to make money, building a hobby website is unlikely to provide it.

Learning takes time. Creating worthwhile content takes time. Search engines, social platforms and readers may also take time to discover and trust a new website.

Many people will enjoy documenting their hobby without earning much from it. Some will give up. Others may gradually build an audience and create opportunities through affiliate recommendations, advertising, digital products or services.

There is no guaranteed outcome.

The best starting point is to choose something you are willing to keep learning about and create work that is genuinely useful. If an earning opportunity follows, it should grow from the help the website provides rather than being forced into every page.
